Oluwo of Iwo is a Witty King

Oluwo of Iwo is a Witty King By: Yasin Olawumi

I was dabbling in the art the time I heard the ding of my phone, I
thought it was Allawee’s message, when I checked, it was a message of
my CDS group (SDGs), visitation to Oluwo of Iwo Land, Oba Abdul
Rasheed Akanbi Adewale, the majestic king. I was moved and enchanted
the first I saw his pictures on Instagram, the moment I set my eyes on
his page, my mind was soaked with his love, the way he dressed,
dressing.

My adoration increased the time I watched his interview online on his
recent ruckus of buying Made in Nigeria car by Innoson, as a first
monarch to use made in Nigeria product. His outspoken was marvelous
and extraordinary, his oratory power was awesome, his accent was very
different from Nigerians, very fluent in English, with a pool of
wisdom, he is a witty King. History of Oba(s) that never embrace
western Education, just only their local languages, this one is
different from them, he is very presentable anywhere, in and out of
this Country.

Time to pay him a visit, we started our journey to Iwo Land on the
24th January, 2018 with two buses, my mind was at the peak to descry
Oluwo of Iwo in flesh not in pictures and eye in eye.

We descended the gate of Oluwo of Iwo, we entered his palace and it
was hollow, his palace was stupendous and full of lovely arts. Oba
Abdul Rasheed was not around the time we entered his palace, we
strategized on what to do next, we decided to wait for him.

We got tired of waiting, they were shallow but I still thinking of
waiting for him, not too long of cooking tiredness, Oluwo of Iwo came
in, we felt rejoiced, he accosted us, we did the same, we told him
about our project we are embarking on and how we needed his
assistance. He told us a lot of things, he started by saying ” Please
go and join politics after your service, I’m very sure your colleagues
will vote for you, all their friends will vote for you.”
I stood in
front of him, listening to all his words and grammars, Oluwo of Iwo is
not just a king but a grammarian, it will be my pleasure if I recorded
his voice but I couldn’t, all of us were moved with his vocabularies,
proverbs, the way he twisted his lips, I admired his charisma, we were
put under his spell for an hour, we didn’t even remember that we were
travelers because of his sweet and charming words until cloud showed
us traces of darkness, we took pictures with him and kissed that day
good bye.

Oodles of thanks to His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdul Rasheed Akanbi
Adewale, Telu 1, Ilufemiloye, Alashe Lori orisha, Oluwo of Iwo Land.
